The passing of time, the natural world, themes of death and renewal, and exploring decay and transition as a part of beauty are seminal to my work.

The landscape of Jackson Hole has had a profound impact on me as an artist. Every painting begins with a vision or lesson I take from the land. Here in Wyoming the land does not seem like something I see “out there”, but rather something I experience, and am a part of. It is never my intention to render only what my eye sees: Rather, it is my goal to create a palimpsest that incorporates the land, vision, language, experience, memory and time. Just as time erodes our memories and ideas, my process obscures concrete images and buries much of the seminal imagery beneath the surface of the painting. I thrive on the alchemy of process.
