Love That Well: Shari Brownfield Fine Art
“Love that well which thou must leave ere long” - Shakespeare’s Sonnet 73. Whether it is a particular view from a studio window, a moment in the landscape, a season, memory, sunset, or something endangered, my practice is to discover it, explore it, and bring it to a place that resonates with me both visually and spiritually.
Times Takes Time: Shari Brownfield Fine Art
Bob Dylan once said “The purpose of art is to stop time.” Capturing a moment in time may be the gift of the artist; however, how many moments embedded in an artwork are referred yet unseen?
Liminal Spaces: Shari Brownfield Fine Art
“Liminal space is the time between the ‘what is’ and the ‘next.’ It is a place of transition, a season of waiting and not knowing. Liminal space is where all transformation happens.”

Serendipity is powerful. In February I read the groundbreaking novel Freshwater by Akwaeke Emezi, and there I learned about the word liminal and the concept of liminality. I was just beginning a new body of work for my scheduled show at Shari Brownfield Fine Art. There were inklings then that Covid 19 was about to change our lives. In the ensuing months I have been working on the twenty-two paintings that make up this body of work. Clearly our world has been thrown into a period of change and turmoil we have not seen since the 1960s, and perhaps not even then. I have been, like most, deeply affected by all of it.
Interwoven throughout these months was the knowledge that we are living through a time of monumental change, a time of liminality. The emotions I have felt and are feeling are shared and universal, and have connected me to all of humanity. My intention is that this body of work is “of” this extraordinary time.
Touch the Sky: Shari Brownfield Fine Art
During times of isolation many of us have turned to art to help relieve some stress and uncertainty. Others have turned to Mother Nature. Why not turn to both with an exhibition of works inspired by our incredible landscape that surrounds us.
The exhibition can be viewed online here.
Something Worth Remembering: A Solo Exhibition by Pamela Gibson
I continue to explore these landscapes through my observations and my work as a painter. My newest work incorporates the element of memory. How does my experience of these Western places express itself through the lens of passing time?
I will be showing new pieces from this body of work as a featured Artist at Turner fine Art beginning December 2. Stop by December 5, 5-7, for a reception. Bobbi Miller’s solo show opens then as well.
Elemental: A Solo Exhibition by Pamela Gibson
In this body of work I explore the 5 elements of landscape: earth, wind, fire, water and spirit.
